UAE Recalls 5,612 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator Vehicles Over Fire Risk

News summary: A UAE safety campaign covering 5,612 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles from model years 2021 to 2025 has been launched over a potential electrical fault affecting the power-steering system. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted for inspections and repairs at no charge.

A recall affecting 5,612 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles has been launched in the UAE because an electrical connection fault could interrupt power-steering assistance and, in certain circumstances, increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

The campaign covers selected Wrangler SUVs and Gladiator pickup trucks manufactured for model years 2021 through 2025. Trading Enterprises, the authorized Jeep dealer for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, is coordinating the recall with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s consumer-protection authorities.

What is the problem?

The defect involves wiring connected to the electro-hydraulic power-steering pump. Jeep’s investigation found that an electrical connection in certain vehicles may develop increased resistance.

This can produce excessive heat around the connection. Nearby combustible material could consequently overheat and potentially catch fire.

Drivers may also experience reduced or lost power-steering assistance. A “Service Power Steering” warning may appear on the instrument panel when the system detects a related fault. Steering remains mechanically possible, but considerably more effort may be required, particularly when maneuvering at lower speeds.

Jeep’s official recall information confirms that the international campaign applies to Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles equipped with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It is not connected to previous high-voltage battery recalls involving Jeep 4xe vehicles.

What should UAE owners do?

Trading Enterprises is expected to contact registered owners whose vehicles are included in the UAE recall. Customers will then be asked to arrange an appointment at an authorized service center.

Technicians will inspect the relevant electrical connections and wiring. Where necessary, affected parts—including the wiring harness or electro-hydraulic power-steering pump—will be repaired or replaced. The inspection and required recall work will be completed free of charge.

Ownership of a 2021–2025 Wrangler or Gladiator does not automatically mean that a specific vehicle contains the defect. Recall eligibility is normally determined using the Vehicle Identification Number, commonly known as the VIN.

Owners should therefore check their VIN through Jeep’s recall service or contact an authorized UAE dealer instead of relying only on the model and registration year.

Is it safe to continue driving?

Jeep’s official international guidance says owners may continue driving affected vehicles but advises them to park outdoors, away from buildings and other vehicles, until the repair has been completed. UAE owners should follow any instructions provided in their local recall notification and contact the authorized dealer promptly.

Any power-steering warning, unusual steering resistance, burning smell or visible smoke should be treated seriously. A driver experiencing these symptoms should stop in a safe location, move away from the vehicle if fire is suspected and contact emergency or roadside-assistance services.

Recall forms part of a wider international campaign

The UAE action is connected to a wider Stellates recall involving more than 1.3 million vehicles internationally. The manufacturer reported at least 72 fires potentially connected to the fault during its investigation, along with one potentially related injury.

The UAE recall demonstrates why owners should respond to manufacturer notices even when their vehicle appears to operate normally. Safety campaigns allow potentially defective components to be inspected before a warning, steering failure or overheating incident occurs.
